Recommended Use with Pets: Heat mats work best when mounted to the back or side of the doghouse. This allows your pet to get away from the heat if it gets too hot next to the mat. Heat Mats can cause burns, so please use with caution. Blankets, straw or hay should never be used with a heat mat.
Bought this for my Sulcata Tortoises but decided to plug it in and test it in the house. My wife stepped on it and loved that it warmed her feet. She won't give it back.
The build quality exceeded every expectation. My non-thermostat control mat stays at a constant 100 degrees plus. I put it under a 36" Dogloo's thick "plastic" pan with a few 1" holed drilled in the center for venting and heat, and moderate the temperature with a small flat rock in the center for my redfoot tortoises. I use a timer on cooler nights. I'm buying more for my indoor terrariums to place on an overhead cage rack or screen, or under with a metal or asphalt tile shielded bottom. (Do not place any heat mats on ANY glass table or cage...duh!) The ad is correct: 30 degrees or so above "ambient temp." The description in the package seems wrong. I interpret it as meaning it stays at room temperature no matter how cold. Confusing. Fast delivery.
Alot safer than heatlamps and less cost.
Great for pigs in old age
We recently purchased the Stanfield heating mats for our baby lambs instead of using heat lamps. Lambing season has recently started and we have some extreme temperature. The mats have worked well to maintain the lamb's body temperature. We use them on top so the straw, and the lambs stay on the mat for long period of time very pleased and warm.
