I like the overall design of the lamp, but the cords are bad.

The shade of this lamp is safe and takes a lot of abuse. The cords on the other hand have a flaw in the wiring. The black wire breaks at the splice. I don't know why just the black wire but we have had 40 or more go bad and that is the problem with all of them.
