East to install and an Exact replacement

East to install, and works exactly as it should. Strange that this product, as you can see, looks sort of old fashioned. My attic fan speed control was getting wonky after 40 years, and this controller looks EXACTLY the same! For some reason, I like that.

Replacement for dimmer switch used incorrectly

I purchased this Solid State Manual Speed Control to replace a similar switch that failed 35 years ago. I had been using a lighting dimmer switch to control a whole house fan mounted in the ceiling of my two story home. The original speed control switch failed about a year after installation and was replaced with a rotary dimmer switch for lighting; the dimmer switches failed about every 50 hours as they were not intended to handle that many amps. It was easy to install and seems to dissipate heat generated during use. Hopefully this speed control switch will last.
