I use this feeder with the cover for my older chicks. I especially like the adjustable feed rate system that is easy to set up as I need. The fins keep the birds from throwing the feed out, Great product…
Well, it's hard to offer a long-time perspective about this feeder since I've only had it a couple of days. It DID go together easily. It does seem to work as hoped. My flock has yet to complain about it so I guess that's a good thing! OH! The wingnut with the hanger loop on it. How's it supposed to compress the spring if it can only screw down about half an inch??? I used a second wing nut to compress the spring so I could adjust the height of bucket section.
I'm new to chickens, but I would think since we can put a man on the moon, manufacturers would have figured out ho to keep chickens from crapping in their own feed. Aside from that, it's easy to assemble, and does the job.
I am just a backyard newbie... I needed a feeding system that could hang and hold a few days worth of food. This fit those needs!! What I didn't think thru was the rain protection part of this as an outdoor feeder. I was lucky enough to have a PERFECT top that helps keep weather out and chickens from roosting as well. The product has a great lip that has really helped keep the feed in the feeder and not on the ground. (no waste) Was very easy to assemble.
