Ear Notcher - U Notch

I admit that this review might be less than useful for most, because my use for this product differed from its intended use. I am a biologist working with small sharks, and needed a way to collect small amounts of fin tissue from horn sharks.

The edges of a shark fin are in all likelihood similar to a cow's ear - perhaps even a bit tougher. This tool has performed extremely well for my purposes. With a small modification, I was able to create a compartment to collect the tissue once it had been clipped from the shark. It has been able to withstand the marine environment very well, and corrosion has been minimal, even after many hours of exposure.

The cuts are clean, and very easy to make!

The only reason this product has received four stars instead of five is that the second clipper I ordered (we lost the first one on a recent dive) tends to stick closed. This is less than ideal, but not an enormous deal. The first one was far superior.

Overall, this was a very good buy, and I'd highly recommend it. High quality product. I just wish they were tested more stringently before being put to market.
