This rain gauge is not all that accurate and the dates have to constantly be reset. As a for instance, on December 6th, it read 11/36. It does this every month.
Mine worked the first year and this year it will not work.
The first year it performed as it should. When the season was over, I removed the batteries, cleaned the unit and stored it in a box in my den closet. When the season started this year, I put brand new batteries in both components but it would never acknowledge the other component. I placed it in the exact spot as the previous year. I went as far as to change the wireless ID, and tried placing it in several different places, following the limits in the manual.
Still nothing....I took it apart, redid the batteries again, and still nothing. I don't know what else to do. It was only 1 year old.
I decided to order a new one from KLOCKIT. Same model, and placed the batteries in both components and it works just fine. I guess I am out the price of the first one, but at least the new one works!
my conventional tube type rain gauge reads almost exactly twice the
rainfall as my newly purchased acu-rite. They are placed closely together
and in the open. Will give it one more chance, then it's in the trash.
IT RAINED FOR THE 1ST TIME TODAY....AND MY HUSBAND IS THRILLED WITH HIS NEW RAIN GAUGE....IT'S EASY TO READ AND I CATCH HIM CHECKING IT OUT THROUGH THE DAY....A VERY GOOD SIGN....FROM A GUY THAT SELDOM GETS EXCITED ABOUT ANYTHING...AS A RETIRED BRICKLAYER THE WEATHER HAS ALWAYS BEEN A HUGE FACTOR IN HIS EVERYDAY LIFE RAIN ESPECIALLY...
