Q&A
Q: I would like to connect 2 of these together. 1 outside coop and 1 inside. They will be connected to a 65-gallon rain barrel with a heater in it and a pump to circulate water through the system to prevent freezing. Can you help me get the parts needed?
A:
To best answer your question, we recommend talking to our sales department. Please call (888) 433-5275 and ask to talk to our sales department about your setup.
Q: Can you connect this directly to a hose and leave the hose on?
A: The hanging tube waterers will only work on gravity-fed water pressure. If you are using a garden hose and running well pressure you will need to use a pressure reducer. Give us a call at 888.433.5275 for recommendations.
Q: Does this waterer assembly come with the hardware needed to hang it (chains, etc)?
A: These come exactly as pictured. The only thing you might need extra is 420240 the adaptor to hook the hose to a bucket.
Q: Are these appropriate for pheasant chicks? Can they be fitted with extra nipples?
A: Yes, these waters will work for pheasant chicks.
Q: I want to connect to a 55-gallon barrel using a short garden hose for a gravity-fed system; the hose would need to connect to the adaptor. But otherwise, that would work, correct? No issues with water pressure? And no issues with leaking nipples?
A: These systems are designed to work on gravity pressure so no there should be no issues.
Q: Does floor beneath end up wet either from leaking or from birds drinking?
A: Yes they can if the pressure is too high or the birds "play" with the water. You can figure 10-12 birds per nipple, too many less and they tend to play with the nipple at times. Depending on the bird size but at most you only want 1/2-3/4 of a PSI of water pressure. Your water source, if gravity fed should only be between 12" - 18" above the bottom of the nipple.
