Comments about Still Air Incubator:
The Little Giant Incubator (which from what I am told by the QC Staff is the one listed here) is a wonderful tool for anybody who simply wishes to hatch birds for their own flock.
However, keep in mind that you always get what you paid for. My first experience with the Little Giant incubator was with 9 duck eggs (5 of which hatched). As duck eggs require a larger amount of humidity than chicken eggs, quail eggs, etc., it was necessary to open the incubator every day and spritz the eggs with water. Not to mention the
daily task of turning the eggs (3x's), which I had to do manually because the egg turner does not hold duck eggs. However, the problem I encountered was that nearly every time I opened the incubator, the temperature had to be re-adjusted. I would have to wait 15-20 minutes and see if the temperature would stay at the proper level, and it usually didn't. It was not uncommon for me to have to spend an hour trying to stabilize the temperature.
My point is that unless you will not have to open the incubator often, or your simply have a lot of time to spend regulating the temp, then you might consider a nicer (and more expensive) incubator.
Overall, though, I am satisfied with my incubator, and I do plan on using it many times in the future. Chicken eggs will fit in the egg turner, and will not need such high humidity. So opening the incubator will probably only be necessary one every 36 hours or so to refill the evaporation rings.
By the way, do not be misled and believe that it is really made of any kind of plastic, even though it is supposed to be made of "thermal plastic". It's styrafoam. My incubator is, and I called QC and they said theirs is too.
