Q: What size gas connection does the Hot Dawg® have?
Q: How is the Hot Dawg® mounted in a garage?
A: Angled hanging brackets designed for 3/8" bolts, lag screws, or rods are included with 30,000–75,000 BTU models. This allows a snug-to-ceiling installation with 1" clearance, or the unit can be suspended with threaded rods. 100,000–125,000 BTU models do not include mounting brackets. - Good Unit
Very quiet when running and puts out a lot of heated air. Very intuitive to install if you read all the instruction. Be prepared to lift and support 80lbs to seven feet off the floor to mount. That was the only difficult part for me; my 16 year old grandson came in handy. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product.
- Excellent heater
I have three of these heaters now. Easy to install and reliable. I have the 75,000BTU. Work as they should.
- nice unit
Recently received my natural gas heater. Have not had a chance to install. However, appears to be a well built unit.
- great product
purchased the 60,000 btu unit and have used it all winter in my small 800 sq. ft shop . would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to upgrade the heat in their shop!
- A lot of heat for the money
I purchased my first Modine Hot Dawg heater used from a friend. It performed well until a power surge took out most of my shop, heater included. Instead of repairs I decided to purchase a new one. It heats a 30x52 building in which I paint antique tractors. Works great and is very efficient.
- you WONT find em' cheaper!
Searched online, and around locally, but QC delivered to me the 45 and 30k dawgs, .....FREE AND FAST! (course we live next door to Nebraska, but i was impressed that while ordering on a weekend online, that i had conformation, and tracking numbers Monday b4 noon.) We re converting from elec. to natural and sure could've used these in the cottage and main house this past winter... it was cold in Wyoming this year. Anyway! Even our natural gas supplier was 350.00 MORE then QC. For the SMALL one! And, i was told they're loud. .. BULL! Ive heard normal house furnaces louder.. sooooo glad. Got these.
- Very efficient - easy to install - QC Best
I bought this 75,000 BTU gas heater ten years ago.
To this day it is still running flawlessly. Best investment I made to heat my 32'x40' shop. I have 12' ceilings and keep the temperature at 45-50 degrees when i'm not using it. Only takes half hour to get it up to 65-70 degrees when you need heat. Shop is fully insulated. I will always own one of these little heaters. Best anywhere. Cost me around $95.00 for a month to keep shop heated.
- Quality built in the USA
This unit replaced a 35 year old Modine 45,000 btu unit that the bolts holding the motor broke off. I repair the motor bolts and finished the season, but I thought I would update to a newer unit. I was pleasantly surprised to see that QC Supply carried Modine heaters and that their prices were the best around. I like the fact that this unit can be mounted close to the ceiling, unlike my old heater that was suspended with rod. Installation went easy and the quality is USA at its best. It heats my 2 1/2 car garage nicely and quickly. I gave my old heater to my son-in-law and suspect that he will get years of good use with it. Go Modine!
- Very efficient - easy to install
I installed the 75000 btu unit last November in a 900 sq ft garage with 12' ceilings. Easy to hang and used 3' of B vent horizontal out the wall. Venting cost $50.00. I set the thermostat at 40 degrees in November and after a cold winter I can report it always kept the garage at 40 and it only cost about $50 in natural gas, use based on affect on my power bills. I don't spend time in the garage so I only once ran the heat up to 60 degrees. It did that on a cold day in about an hour. So gas costs, of course, would be low.
I am very pleased with the heater and believe it is a superior choice over other brands. Pending long term reliability, I believe it is worth the cost.
- Exactly what I needed.
This is exactly what I needed to heat my Future Steel 25' x 50' ( building. I mounted it on a 6' pedestal made from slotted steel angle iron anchored to the floor. I only needed the assistanceof two others to lift it inplace. The propane and electricity were very easy to connect as well as a simple digital thermostat. I turned it on and it worked right the first (i.e. I didn't make any mistakes). I is fairly quiet when running and it raised the temperature from 60 deg. to 72 deg. in about 15 minutes.
It will be kept at 40 deg. when we aren't using the building for people things. I can now store things I don't want freezing over the winter (got to -10 deg. in December). We have Thanksgiving and Yule potlucks in there and raising it to 68-70 deg. will be a snap.
I am very happy with this heater and recommend it for a similar space or a smaller unit for a smaller space.
- Great Heat
Just got the 75K nat. gas Hot Dawg up and running yesterday in my 42x23x10 ft. insulated garage yesterday, they had the best price anywhere. Delivery was prompt and courteous. As background my dad put a 30k unit in his new garage 20 years ago. It still runs like a champ, so when I finally got tired of this never ending winter I wanted a Hot Dawg too. This unit really puts out the heat and is actually quieter than the 30k due to the larger diameter fan. The only thing I didn't like is the brackets included for hanging the heater. The 75k heater is too heavy to rely on 6 sheet metal screws to hold up its 87 lb. of weight. When I got it mounted I noticed the brackets were tipping and pulling on the screws. I used steel strap around the heavy end to support it. Not pretty, but much safer.
- Very Positive
I purchased the Hot Dawg 75,000 BTU at QC Supply because it was the best price for the unit on line. Before I purchased I had my local propane company come to the house ant look at my garage. Although they use a different unit they have in the past used Hot Dawg and gave it a very positive review. They could have ordered one for me but told me to buy it from QC because they couldn't match the price.
They estimated it would take two guys eight hours to install. It took about 5.5 hours and it was up and running. When I first turned it on the garage temp was 29 degrees. In about 20 minutes it was 60 degrees. The garage is 35' x 40' with sheet rock and 4" of insulation in the walls and ceiling.
The unit is very quit compared to my old method of heating which was a 50,000 btu propane salamander which was also very dangerous as the fumes didn't vent to the outside and the smell was terrible. I couldn't be happier.
- Good Heater
Have been more than happy with heater until a small relay about the size of a shot class that cost just under $100 went out. Had to contact an HVAC repair service to repair. Parts and labor was nearly $200. The heater is almost 5 years old.
- Modine Hot Dawg 45,000 BTU Garage Heater
I have had this 45,000 btu Hot Dawg installed for about a month now in my garage here in Brighton Colorado. I have to say this heater works extremely well in my fully insulated 600 sq ft garage.
We have just had the coldest weather for the season, -17 degrees F at night sometimes, and this heater has performed flawlessly. I was in the garage one day and had the thermostat set for 70 degrees, it was 5 degrees outside, and the Hot Dawg had no problem getting it to 70, could have easily gone higher.
When the heater is sized properly for you application you will love it.
- BIG HEATER SMALL PACKAGE
Installed this heater three days ago and it's doing a great job. It is a 75000 btu unit on L.P. and is heating a 24 x 40 x14 shop. Brought the temp. up from 28 degrees to 58 degrees in 3 hrs. with the outside temp. at 15 degrees and a stiff wind. Quite running, a very good product. GREAT HEAT FOR THE PRICE.
I love these heaters. I've installed a few in clients homes and now I have one in my shop. It's very quiet and efficient.
great service great heater
- Great unit
Great Product. Have a 24'x36' garage 8'6" ceiling , well insulated. Have the 45,000 btu natural gas Hot Dawg Heater, easy to install and runs quiet. Keep the garage at 48 and boost it to 65 when i want to work , even with the temps in the 20's it takes less the and hour to get the temp up.
- Fast Shipping and Undamaged.
The heater showed up very quick and packaged nicely. Although the ad may be misleading it states that it comes with venting, but it does not, rather it is just stating it is a vented heater. Also there is no real way of hanging it either. No ready rod or anything. My suggestion is order the vent kit and any of the hanging setups shown in accessories.
- Excellent Furnace
This is my second furnace I bought, the first one is in my garage and is six years old with no problems so far. I bought this one because of the way my first one works. This is a excellent product, and is almost trouble free. This unit was put in my small engine shop and does a excellent job of keeping my shop warm. This product is well built and I would recommend it to any one looking for a good heater.
Hung a 45,000 BTU in a small 2 car garage 400 square ft garage and heated garage to 72 degrees in less than 30 minutes. 12 degrees outside temp. This is a attached garage with only one exterior brick wall and an insulated 2car garage door. To maintain 70 degrees the unit ran for 10 minutes, rested for 22 minutes and repeated similar pattern making up about 20 minutes per hour of actual run time. Holding the room temp down to 65 would require it to run even less. Heat recovery time was remarkable when I experimented opening the garage door to let the frigid cold air in. Mine is 2 weeks old and I am more than pleased. Wife loves it. Makes going through the garage to let the dog out back nice at night pleasant.
- Great Product and Service from QC
I reviewed many heaters before purchasing this 100k Hot Dawg unit. I try to buy Made in the USA first and this buy did not disappoint me one bit. I'm heating a 1400+ sqft garage with an average temp kept at 50. I live in Colorado so a high altitude LP kit was required which came with the unit and price. I purchased a permit and setup myself over a few weeks. My 250gal LP tank was installed, Inspected so I'm off and running.
QC offered a great price plus they knocked off another 5% with free shipping. How can you beat that. Located in my neighboring state the unit was top notch packed, delivered pronto and unharmed. I would not hesitate future buys from QC Supply.
Somethings you can purchase overseas manufactured items that you won't use everyday but for daily use we need to buy quality and this is one of them. Great product.
- Great deal all the way around!
Fast delivery. My 45000 btu heater was an easy install and has been up an running for a week now and does a great job on my 2+ car garage here in Wisconsin where right now it is 12 degrees outside but my garage is warm. Very pleased with hot dawg and QC supply.
- Good service.
I called with questions before ordering and was referred to Larry. He was very knowledgeable and answered my questions in a very direct and professional manner. After talking to Larry I was convinced that QC was the supplier to order from. The Modine heater arrived in 5 days and I will have it installed next week.
- Great replacement unit
I purchased the Modine hot dawg on my heating and cooling guy recommendation to replace a similar but different brand unit that lasted less than 3 years. This 75K btu unit was very easy to install since I already had all the connections there, less than a 2 hour job for a do it yourselfer. Makes me very happy to work in my garage in comfort. So far a 2 thumbs up, heats up the garage quickly since I only use it on week ends.
- Could have had better quality control
This unit arrived quickly and in good condition after shipping.
The unit did have a problem, though. The control transformer mounting plate was not secured adequately and was hanging loosely in the cabinet. I drilled another mounting hole, since none seemed to be available and installed a sheet metal screw. The wiring also was not adequately secured and interfered with the combustion blower.
Installation was relatively simple, but not exactly easy. Installing a double walled vent the way the instructions called for took a bit of work and routing through the ceiling.
I have a three car garage that this heats and have noticed that it doesn't run very long between cycles with out door temperature at 20 degrees. Seems to be a bit much heat output for this amount of floor space even with 9 foot ceilings. The ceiling is insulated with 4" and the three garage doors are insulated as well.
While it says this is quiet, it is not really. Not a jet engine, but you do hear the combustion blower in the laundry room next to the garage - through the wall.
- Great product
Great product. Very fast shipping. Couldn't ask for more.
Installed this new 75k heater in my 2.5 stall garage last fall. Walls are cement and mostly under ground. Will only get to 50 ish in garage when temp is below 30 degrees. Installer said it is because it is sucking cold air from cement wall. I find this very hard to believe.
- excellent customer service
this unit was easy to have installed and does the job. very friendly service and they answered all my questions before the purchase. no hidden costs. the delivery came sooner than the expected date. Will do business again with this company.
- Great overall product
I bought 2 of the 75,000 BTU hot dawg heaters for my 1600 Sq. Ft. garage with 15 foot ceilings in the cold state of Maine. They arrived in perfect condition and when promised. The only problem I had was the small sheet metal screws that hold the mounts, I didn't want almost 90 lbs. hanging from 6 little screws. I drilled them out and installed #12 sheet metal bolts. If you are going to use stainless flue pipe purchase it from C Q, their price is almost 1/3 less than what I paid up here. Heat fast and fairly quiet operation.
- GREAT Proudct and price from Q-C
I could not ask for a better heating unit. I installed two of the 75,000 BTU units in my 1600 Sq. Ft. shop with 15 Ft. ceilings. With my two 60 inch ceiling fans the shop is nice and warm. I live in central Maine and the weather gets really cold at times (about 48 weeks a year). No hassle ordering, shipping and delivery from Q-C Supply. Only thing I did not like was the angle iron mounting screws, they use the same screws that hold the sheet metal cover to the unit (Very small) so I re-drilled the holes and used #12 sheet metal screws. My HAVC guy said it was an overkill but that's the way I always do stuff.
- So far so good
Super quick free shipping. Unit is compact and heats up my 2.5 car garage fast. Easy to hook up and I flipped mine before installing. Not too loud either.
Shipped quick, easy to assemble and mount to ceiling, fast hookup, and no 'new metal oily coating stink' on the fist burn. Looking forward to extra heat in shop, quiet operation, nice unit.
- Good heater
Purchased the 75K BTU propane model. Easy to install, mounted it to ceiling joists in my work barn. Hook up a propane line, a 120VAC power line, a 2-wire thermostat, and the exhaust, and you're good to go. Using B-vent for the exhaust makes things a lot easier, just measure, get your components, drill a hole, and piece it together. I have about $80 in B-vent components for a roof exhaust (two 18" and one 36" pipes, a T and a T cap, flashing, storm collar, top cap, and a support bracket).
The unit runs quieter than others I've seen in operation, and throws heat as far as the specs said (38'). My only apprehension was the included mounting brackets are held onto the unit with just six 3/4" metal screws. I added one more on each side for a total of 8, and its very solid, but I'd be a little more comfortable with more substantial bracket mounting hardware.
If the unit continues to perform well, it has earned the 5-star rating I gave.
- Good Replacement for my original heating unit
Originally installed a used 80,000 BTU heating unit that was way oversized for my 800 SF insulated, 4-car garage/shop in Northern Nevada. Tired of replacing the thermocouple and ordered a replacement 30,000 BTU unit. The New Modine unit is very compact and fits very well. Well constructed, pretty quiet and works very well. Proper sizing makes a big difference in operation. Heating bill dropped dramatically. Very pleased with QC Supply in both communication, lightening fast shipping and product as described. Highly recommend QC Supply and Modine products for your next purchase. If you are treated as well as I, you won't be disappointed.
- works great
It's pretty quiet and puts out heat well!
- Cant beat the price. Quality product.
Wow it was easy to install and works great. Should have put one in a long time ago. Beats the heck out of rubbing two sticks together. Fast shipping excellent packaging. A+++++++++++++ all around. Thanks QC.
- Super Quick Delivery!
Smokin' fast delivery. Purchased Saturday night online and it was on my door step Tuesday afternoon. The product box looked like brand spankin' new with no damage of any sort so kudos to your delivery company. This is my first Modine purchase and so far I'm impressed with the product and I hope that it holds up. Good job, keep it up, and thanks for the gloves.
- Great Product!
I installed the Hot Dawg 45 on the ceiling of my two-car garage. I used the mounting brackets that came with the unit and they worked as described. The brackets provided the minimum 1" clearance to the ceiling.
My garage is not insulated and the temperature outside is around 25 degrees. The heater was able to heat the garage in about 15 minutes up to 65 degrees and was able to maintain that temperature without continuously running. I would recommend this product for a garage/shop application.
- Modine 100K BTU shop heater
Nice heater! Arrived in great condition and quickly. I'm heating a 1600 sq. ft. workshop/garage in Indiana and it does a great job.
- Excellent Heater
Does everything it is advertised it will do. Heating a 24 x 36 shop and I have to turn it down after a short while. Quick delivery time and a quality product. Modine has been making quality commercial heaters for a long time.
- Great unit, great price, easy install, and super quick ship!
Great price, easy install, and super quick ship! 3 thumbs up (if I had another).
- Great heater at a great price.
This review is for our Modine Hot Dawg heater, Model HD-60 (60,000 btu) burning natural gas. After some research, including a heat-loss analysis to determine appropriate sizing, we found the best price from QC Supply. Fast standard shipping via FedEx Ground was included in the price. The unit came fully assembled and ready to go to work right out of the box. Overall design, workmanship, fit and finish is excellent. We're heating a new construction 2 1/2 car garage and workshop area (28' x 28') with 11' ceiling and a heated living space above here in the chilly hills of Western New England. It was below freezing yesterday with the wind gusting over 40 mph but my garage stayed warm and toasty with the heater cycling only a few times an hour. Straightforward installation and very quiet operation.
Clear, concise instructions provided by Modine, downloadable from QC website if you want to plan ahead. To complete the installation you flip the mounting brackets over from the shipping position and provide your own threaded rod and other hardware to mount to ceiling. You must also provide vent pipe, gas piping and electrical to comply with local code. I'm an experienced DIY'er and my buddy is a top notch plumber who has installed many Hot Dawgs. It was out of the box, mounted to the ceiling, gas piped and vented in about two hours. 30 minutes more for electrical, only because I took the time to run EMT conduit for a nice, clean installation. It fired right up with no problems. There was only a slight "hot metal" smell for about 10 minutes during the initial run-in, as should be expected from any new heater. It is now running beautifully (and quietly) on a Honeywell programmable thermostat, although any standard basic thermostat will do. The HD-60 draws 2.5 amps so you can comfortably run either 12 or 14 ga wiring for line voltage. Thermostat wire is standard 2 conductor (only red & white terminals are used).
All in all, this is a very nice heater doing exactly what it was designed to do. This was our first purchase from QC Supply and we will definitely buy again. They have a very easy us use website, excellent product selection, logical check-out process and great communications from purchase to delivery. Highly recommended.
- A LITTLE MUSTARD and RELISH!
Just purchased and installed the Modine Hot Dawg 45 BTU Heater for a 16' x 30' Barn/ATV Shop located here in Western New York. Being way out in the 'sticks' and hills smack in the middle of 'lake effect' snow region, winters here can be quite brutal with very cold temps and winds!
My shop is an ongoing restoration project started this past Spring of an old barn built way back in the 30's that really needed some major work. Along with new cement floor, re-framing of walls, insulation, siding, 9 windows and just a whole bunch of other stuff along the way ... a decent, efficient propane heating system was tops on the 'to do' list come cold weather. After advice of local HVAC outfits and looking at all the various makes, models of gas heaters ... everything pointed to the Modine Hot Dawg! The high efficiency, quality construction of the unit, along with the great price and superb service of QC Supply made the choice an easy one! After determining what size was best overall for my application, ordering on line was very simple and unit arrived safe, sound and packed very nicely in less than a week.
Originally was going to go with the 60K unit ... but after considering BTU/fuel use/cost and that building is well insulated with 3.5" fiber glass in walls and foil faced foam higher up and in ceiling, I went with the 45K unit. QC Supply was very helpful in answering all installation questions, gas/electrical hook-ups and such. Considered using one the Quick-Sling Rafter Mount systems they offer ... but, after measuring and scoping everything out - I mounted unit flush to a pair of 2'x6' boards built within the overhead beams for a very secure installation. Unit is also positioned near the middle of the back wall at about 8 foot height as opposed to a higher location in the corner. Reason for this was *Easier mounting to rafter/beams *Ease of servicing and maintenance *Lower, more centralized heat discharge.
Am in the process now of installing wall mounted hard pipe gas line and getting electric over to unit. So Far So Good, and the Hot Dawg looks great hanging there!! Can't wait to get the thing cranking out some heat and actually able to work out there during the winter months without seeing your breath!
- thumbs up
picked this heater due to the easy install video on you tube and i love it. thanks
- Great, reliable heaters
I live in Sandpoint, Idaho (winters 10 to 30 degrees). Heating a divided, insulated, pole barn 36' x 60' x 12' high. My first heater is the 75,000btu (it "throws" the heat 40ft.) the second one is the 45,000btu (it "throws" the heat 30ft.). Keeping the barn divided with a wall and large roll-up door really helps keep the heating cost down. If you are not sure what size heater to get, check out Modine's Hot Dawg web-site and you can determine the btu's you need by seeing how far it "throws" the heat. Great, reliable heater, have been using them for 8 years.
- Modine 60,000 LP
My new heater came the other day. I installed it with the instructions given and all went very well. I had to call QC when I ordered it and a heart beat picked up the other line and directed me to a tech to answered my order and need questions. It made my decision and ordering process go real well. The service and politeness help out for the DIY guys. The unit is now rockin and I'm happy with it and with QC. It made me look around at what else they sell.
- Thank you, you are the BEST
Thank you, have installed and just waiting for cold weather.
- great heater
45,000 btu heater warms 2 1/2 car garage in NH nicely and quickly.
- Modine Hot Dawg 45
Well I bought this unit to replace an old house unit that had been in my garage when we moved in 11 years ago. Time to clear some floor space. Unit installed easily and fired right up. It is not that cold yet but it pushes out some heat so I am sure it will do the job. Great Unit great price.. Two of my neighbors know I research most everything I buy. They told me I was the guinea pig, if it works well for me you might just sell a few more to my neighbors.
- Great Heater
Bought the 75,000 btu propane unit in 2003. I keep my 3 car garage in NJ @ about 37-38 degrees when I am not out there just to keep above freezing mark. Takes about 45 min or so to warm up to 60 degrees when its 20 out. Not too bad. Never had a problem yet (knock on wood)!!! Very happy with heater.
- Good product
So far so good. Installed the heater last week with a friend and it was easy to setup. I hooked up a thermostat and finally used it this morning in Colorado as it was 29 degrees outside. QC Supply delivered everything as quoted and no problems with the order. I will purchase products from QC in the future. Cheers, Jim
- Very Good Heater
Built well and easy to install. Heat two-car garage very fast. Just sorry I waited too long.
- Nice unit for garage with low ceiling
Very few perfect products out there but this gets 5 stars because of the helpful and friendly service from the folks at QC. This is the place to buy your Hot Dawg.
- so far completely satisfied
Just got heater hung up and hooked up to gas. Seems like a good heater, we'll have to wait and see when it gets cold. The only thing I would like to say is make sure people know where they hide the installation manual!!
- Hot Dawg heater
The service was outstanding and the price was right. I have had Hot Dawg heaters in the past and they are of good quality. I have a 30 ft. bu 45 ft. shop in western New York and it heats my shop very well.
- Hot Dawn HD 60 k - perfect 3 car garage heater
I purchased this heater for a 3 1/2 car, short side attached garage 750 SF, 4" Insulation on ceiling , and 1" foam board on the walls with brick. 3 insulated doors. Normally it get down to 40 degrees in the winter. I did plenty of research and picked this unit. I am very happy. I keep 2 cars in the garge and lots of tools. I wanted a heater that would slowly rise the temp continously without cooking me when I am in front of the heater. I also didn't want the on off cyles that causes you to be hot-cold-hot-cold untill it reaches the temp setting on the thermostat. This heater is perfect. Runs about an hour to rise the temp 20 degrees. than it's off, and the temp holds for quite a while. The slow ris in temp also lets the car 's temp rise in sync with the air. The only problem is my wife is not happy that I'm now working in the garage in the winter with flip flops and a t-shirt on. I love it!
- very good
I received this unit a few weeks ago. It came in with a bent side, but QC and Modine quickly shipped out a replacement side. It installed easily and the thermostat (Johnson Controls) worked good with the unit. I seems to heat well and I think it will be very cost effective. The unit is very quite and appears well made.
- Great garage furnace
This is my 2nd Modine Hot Dawg heater in my garage. I believe the gas valve went bad in my other and since it was 10 yr.s old, I decided to replace the whole heater. While you should have 2 people to install this in the ceiling, it is small enough that I was able to accomplish it by myself. Since the gas line and vent system were already there, it was an easy install with just a quick trip to Menards for the right length gas pipe to go to the gas valve. The heater works great in my 3 stall garage in northern SD where winters can be quite cold. It takes about 20 min.s to heat it from 45 degrees (where I keep it for winter) up to about 55-60 degrees if I'm going to work out there. Very nice heater for the price.
- Modine Hot Dawg
Excellent price, Very fast delivery. Very happy with it.
- Hot Dawg Heating
Best price on the net and quick free shipping. Once you find the installation manual (inside the unit), directions are clear and easy to follow. 75K BTU seems plenty for my shop/garage that's about 950 SF. Quiet, reliable, and fast.
- Great Company
The Customer service was great, they even called before it shipped and told us I could save some money on shipping by doing a couple of things differently. The only issue I had was the installation and owners manual were not shipped. I was able to download them online so it was really not a problem. I would recommend QC supply to anyone.
QC Response: Manual can be found inside lower panel of heater.
- Nice Unit
Best price around! Heater was shipped immediately and I had it in a few days. 45,000 BTU heater for my 2 car garage works great. Very happy with the purchase.
- HD60 Hot Dawg Heater
This is my second Hot Dawg Heater for my garage. Instead of converting my older unit which was propane, I purchased a natural gas unit. I could not be happier with QC Supply. Their price for the unit was the lowest. Period. And to get free shipping , you cannot go wrong. Plus, to have it delivered 2 days after I ordered it, that is just amazing. Their customer service emailed me when the order was processed and i was able to track it during transit. You cannot go wrong with QC supply. As for the heater it is the best around. Several of my friends have one in their garage and all love it An EXCELLENT heater over all and a EXCELLENT company selling them. A++++++
- Excellent Service and Price
This is my second Hot Dawg. When is comes to Garage heaters, this is the best
- Maybe too much heater
The price was the best on the internet. The shipping was fast.
Installed it over 2 weekend after many trips to the hardware store for fitting, pipe, vents, etc.
It works great but it's not as quiet as I had hoped. It's not loud, just a lot of fan noise and I need to turn up my music when it's running.
I got the 45,000 BTU model and it may be too much heater for my 1 1/2 car garage in Santa Cruz but it may be perfect when the temperature drops to 40 and the rain picks up.
- A Heating Gem
A neighbor of mine had moved from Wisconsin to the north Georgia mountains. He had re-installed a Hot Dawg he had used up north and explained that it had operated flawlessly for six years. After that testimonial, I ordered a 45,000 BTU for my two car drive under garage. QC delivered promptly and the installation was relatively easy. Works as advertised and QC was a pleasure to deal with.
- Clean and efficient
The unit is compact and easy to install. I was replacing a Reznor unit and this is more efficient, easier and safer to operate and will hold itself together better than the unit we had. It is perfectly adequate to heat our 28 x 28 winery.
- 125btu Hot Dawg
Ive owned the 125,000 btu Hot Dawg now for 2 winters. It has performed flawlessly. It heats my 30x50 pole barn from 35-60 in 20 minutes (10' ceiling, well insulated). I probally could have got away with a smaller model, 100 or 75 btu model, but I wanted quick heat instead of steady constant heat..(I do not heat the barn full time and didnt want to wait a hour or 2 to get it up to temp). Awesome heater!
- Great Heater..Best prices right here
I live in Mass.I have had the heater in my 2 car garage under the house for a year and half now.(thought I would wait and give an accurate review) First.this web sight is the cheapest priced.although it did cost me another $400.yes $400 for the proper installation pipes.Second it works excellent! I keep my 2 collector Mustangs very warm all winter.Would highly recommend this vendor and this heater. Its Great!!!
Purchased 60,000 BTU for my 3 car garage in 2006 and has worked perfectly ever since. Keeps the temp warm in the garage and rebounds quickly. I plan on buying another for my second garage. One of the best purchases I ever made.
- Good Heater
I do alot of shooting, pistols rifles etc. I have a good size area attached onto the garage, all concrete. Vented installation, on propane. During winter months, I spend alot of time out in the shop, I have nothing else to do, installed an LG television out there fire up the heater and do my thing. Works very well.
- Fantastic Heater
This site hast the best price anywhere on these heaters.
- Good Stuff
Its a big heater for a 1200 sq.ft, insulated shop. Heats things up to about 65 in about 20 mins at 35 OAT. Fine for me as I use the shop for in and out stuff but a smaller version may be better economically and cycle wise for constant use. A bit noisy. As advertised-great shipping, price and product. 2 years now and going strong.
- hot dawg heater
these reviews helped me out!!! so i thought i would post one. I don't usually post reviews!!!But i want other people to know that i am very happy with my 125000 btu heater. It is a must for all man caves!!!!!!!
I thought that it is the best heater for the money!!!!!!!
- Gas heater
Didn't work when I first installed it, Didn't sense the flame, went to check codes on green led and it worked, now that warm weather is here afraid that next fall I will go to use and won't work and it will be out of it's guarentee.
- nice heater
works well, started up right away.
- great heater
Tried the cheaper brands but they weren't reliable The Modine is expensive, but I think it was a good investment. I can't afford unreliable heat in my business.
- Modine Hot Dawg Is Great!
I work as a professional in the HVAC/R industry. I have worked on industrial chillers to residential units. This Modine Hot Dawg is what I decided to put in the garage, and I am very pleased. I had it installed and running within 3 hours with the help from my father. It really is a great little heater, thats efficient, easy to install, and works great. It's very compact and simple, and really a great design. I have had it running for approx 25 hrs and burned about 20 gallons of propane.
- perfect for my gararge - workshop
Quality product. Heats 2 car garage-workshop. Could be a little quieter. Instructions hidden inside unit had to call to discover where to find them. More info on venting accessories and applications when ordering on-line would be an asset.
- QUALITY PRODUCT
I built a shelf in corner of garage up high so I could set the unit on and work on it myself. I noticed a wire hanging loose upon inspection and figured it had to go to igniter. (probably shipping problem) On startup It would not fire up and it was hard to read the label on what the problem was on inside of unit because it was upside down. ( Modine should have this label in owners manual.) I tracked it down to a pinched (bent) hose for the air switch. After that the unit works great and is a quality piece of equipment.Would definently recommend anybody to buy this unit.
- Easy to install. Great value.
Couldn't find installation instructions at first. Thought they were not packed in the box. After some fustration found them INSIDE the unit. If that's where you normally put them have a label on the outside of the unit telling that is where installation an waranty are.
- Best in its class handsdown
Hot Dawg Heaters are the only way to go. Easy to install, quiet and a size for every application.
- Very Happy with entire experience
Best price - I shopped on line at a number of different stores - I would buy again.
- Excellent value for the money
I purchased and installed a 75K BTU unit for my 900 square foot shop in Montana. QC Supply had the best price installation was easy. I can finally use my shop all year round and work in comfort. I highly recommend this unit to others. I only wish I'd bought it sooner!
- these are great heaters.
I have a friend that has a 75,000 unit in his garage and he loves it. I bought a 125,000 unit for my garage that is a 1500 sf building. I installed it in no time . I ordered this on line on a Saturday and by Tuesday it was at my house with no damage at all.Not only am I glad that I bought this, I have told alot of my friends about these heaters as well. I do have a neighbor/ friend that also bought one this last week, only to find out that he has had some problems with his order. It took longer for him to recieve it and when he did there were some problems.
- Modine Hot Dawg Heater
I have a small laundromat in Colorado Springs. I had to replace one of my older space heaters. This Modine Hot Dawg Heater was the perfect choice.
- Buy One Now
Great Heater...Ordered On-Line and received within 3 days. Installation was a breeze and it heats my 3.5 card garage in a flash. Priced other heaters at a big box and nothing can compare to price and quality at QC. I'll be back for more products..Thanks
- There's a big difference in quality.
I purchased a Mr. Heater . Returned it for a Modine Hot Dawg. It is unbelievable the difference in quality. Stainless steel tube heat exchanger verses stamped spot welded sheet metal, thicker gauge sheet metal chassis, die-cast combustion blower housing verses sheet metal, higher quality fan blades and motor on main blower. This unit will out last Mr. Heater 2 to 1. Well worth the additional cost.
- Nice low profile unit
I installed the 45 in my 2 1/2 car garage and it works quite well. Well made unit that tucks up close to the ceiling, was perfect for my application.
- Glad I bought it!
Overall, this is a great heater. It keeps the shop warm, and does not seem to be overly expensive to run. It was quite difficult to install, as the venting instructions were confusing (and my ceiling, being high and slanted made for a tough one-man installation). They very helpful in getting me the correct conversion kit for 8500 ft. elevation and that was a breeze.
- Great Heater
Heats my 2.5 car garage great.
- Great shop heater.
I put the 125BTU Hot Dawg Heater in my 1650 sq.ft Shop. 800 sq.ft.of my shop has a 20ft high ceiling and the rest of the ceilings are 12ft high. the heater has no problem heating the shop to a comfortable working climate in less than ten minutes.
- A Hot Dawg for a cold state!
I purchased a Modine Hot Dawg 75 and once the proper unit was installed it's become the envy of the neighborhood and my family's new best friend.Even during the summer being able to switch the thermostat to Fan mode the fan in the Hot Dawg puts out enough air to be felt over the entire 3 car garage and it does a great job of keeping my garage warm in the winter.I usually run the theromostat at 40 degress since the temp here in MN often drop down to -10-40 (not windchill actual temp! brrrrr) so when outside it's -20 and the garage is 40 and the house is 68 it's quiet a nice step up in comfort and if I'm working in the garage I have got the entire garage up to 70 above in minutes. To properly meet code you either have to use real large single wall vent pipe with a drain tube or just spend for the ALG24C grade pipe which is expensive ($200 for 5 feet) but works great and then you can run standard 3" or 4" diameter depending on the size of your Dawg.I love my Hot Dawg!
