The feeder does what they say it will. it has a lot of plastic adjustment parts that I hope will hold up, we'll see?? The packaging was horrible. Sloppy tape job on the box and the box was broken so the adjustment parts fell out. QC Supply customer service was quick to send replacements, but that box wasn't much better. Perhaps a word to shipping dept.?
Received the product and it was packaged extremely poorly, box was torn in several places, there were no instructions on how to assemble, the rain cover does not fasten. Overall very disappointed.
What I've been looking for
Saves lots of time putting out feed
EXCELLENT,VERY PROMPT. !!!
EXCELLENT,VERY PROMPT. !!!
Great product. It keeps the food dry even in a windy rain. Only thing to beware of is if you continually drop the lid on the metal rod it will eventually crack. It would be much better if the metal rod came with a rubber end cap.
Feeding 50 free range Barred Rock pullets and so far so good. Seems to be no waste on the ground from them scratching or beaking it out of the tray. It has been out for a month now. Has not rained yet so we have no review on the rain staying out of the feed. Will be buying more for the other hens because of the waste factor.
Virtually zero wasted feed
Was using metal tube feeders, always very disappointed in the wasted feed on the ground. With this feeder there is usually zero wasted feed on the ground. My only complaint is inside the tube on this feeder there are 2 winguts that hold the tube at the correct height. But the nut and the bolt part of the wing nut are plastic. It's going to break, not a matter of it. Not the end of the world, improvisation is in a farmers nature, but still this wingnut design could easily be improved.
Great for use on Pastured Poultry
We are using these feeders in a pastured poultry operation. We bought to reduce amount of feed time as we were using 3 trough feeders filling 4x per day and we wanted to reduce labor time associated with feeding. Each house has 460 layers. We use two 50lb range feeders per house plus one 17ft long home built trough feeder and they set out on pasture. The rain shield works very well even in heavy downpour on the range feeder. We fill 2x per day per house. Feeder is easily adjustable to regulate feed. Highly recommend.
