Installation: Needs a .90 ml (metric) hole to screw into. Need 11/32" drill bit, sold separately, to install.
Note: Some customers also find it beneficial to wrap Teflon Tape, QC Part #130450, sold separately, around the threads of the nipple prior to installation to help seal the nipple and help prevent leaking. This step is optional.
A must have for every chicken farmer big or small.
The poltrey nipples work well, but they need to have a rubber o-ring to prevent leaking. I used silicon around the base to stop leaks. This has worked, but I think if there was a rubber o-ring it would work better. Taping the threads did not suffice unfortunately. They work well now that I got them to stop leaking. It took about 24 hours for my chicks to figure them out and not be afraid of them. They drink freely from them now.
My chickens figured this out after a couple of hours! They prefer drinking from these as opposed to a waterer on the floor. I used teflon tape wrapped twice around threads before screwing them into drill holes (11/32") at bottom of a 2-gal plastic bucket.
Works fine. Upon receipt inspection, product appears quality and sturdy. Should be long a lasting item.
IT WORKS IN A BUCKET APPLICATION, AND DOESNT LEAK A SINGLE DROP. A DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR A DIFFERENT BRAND THAT DID LEAK. I AM DELIGHTED TO FIND THIS ONE.
