Couldn't edit my previous review, so I'll add another. There's a hex nut that screws into the bottom of the nipple that keeps hold the spring inside, among other things. For some reason they decided to build that nut out of steel. The steel rusts, the threads get loose, and the spring pops out. At that point flow rate shoots up, and nipple gets the loud hissing sound that attracts the animals, and they start playing with it. Almost every other nipple has a plastic nut, and I can only imagine that the reason these don't is the need for them to sell replacement nipples. This thing would last forever if they built a plastic or SS nut for it.
great feeder nipple
This is the perfect feeder nipple for any application, and especially when the water line pressure exceeds 25 pounds, (ours is about 40). It's the only nipple we found that doesn't spray a lot of water at that pressure. Kinda like the Bekalo sow nipple, it doesn't get that "hissing" sound which causes pigs to activate it just to play with it and fills the trough with wasted water, but still has a high flow rate.
