Hudson Valve , V

QC Supply Part #: 120016

Shipping: Standard

The Hudson Valve is a damage-proof automatic valve for fluid control.

The Hudson Valve is a Damage-Proof Automatic Valve Used for Fluid Control.

The Hudson Valve maintains fluid levels in various applications, replacing ball float valves. The Hudson Valve's internal parts are made of ABS plastic, EPDM rubber & stainless steel. Fluid levels force a float to rise and close the diaphragm chamber as the diaphragm expands to stop the incoming flow. When the fluid level drops, the diaphragm escape is opened and allows the fluid to fill the tank. The Hudson Valve is resistant to freezing.

We also carry the Benson Bracket (#120032) for easy mounting of the Hudson Valve to tanks and troughs (works only with the 1" valve), as well as the Hudson Valve Repair Kit (#120019).

Good Product / Minor Issues
Review by Farmer Dave on Dec 29, 2015

The diaphragm action of this product is much more reliable than ordinary float controlled valves. It should last much longer and with fewer problems. And generally that has been my experience with some minor exceptions.
1. It needs a much finer debris screen to prevent small particles from the water supply from entering the diaphragm area. If one gets through, it can prevent the diaphragm from closing. The amount of water that can flow through this 1" valve before you catch the problem can be a few thousand gallons.
2. Hudson offers a 'high temp" valve control. It's a very small button that controls the opening and closing of the diaphragm. If you connect the valve to a garden hose, install these high temp buttons. In the summer the water in the hose will heat up between valve openings and this hot water will prematurely fail the standard button. The high temp button are only $.50 each. You can order them direct from Hudson on-line.

This unit does the trick!!!
Review by RJ on Jun 25, 2015

This unit does the trick. Easy to install, reliable, and it has solved a problem that I have had repeatedly in the past that was very expensive to fix - needing contract labor, etc. Now I just fix it myself and don't have to worry about it. So glad that I found this product.

Very satisfied
Review by rich on Jun 15, 2015

replaced a Hudson value that had been in service over 9 years...with another Hudson. Obviously, the product is very good....the whole ordering and delivery effort was on time and seamless....would recommend QC Supply....

works great. Love the simple operation

Good water float
Review by Burm on Apr 12, 2015

The only complaint I have with this water float is I have not been able to get them to last more than a year. For some reason they don't winter well when not in use. Other than that we really like them.

Good Product, Great Price and Delivery
Review by Biscuitcutter on Jan 5, 2015

I have used this product in an application where its high flow rate was a necessity. Most valves don't have a good flow rate. This one does. But that's a good news/bad news thing. If it hangs open (which my second one did two weeks after installation) you can waste a lot of water (probably 2500 gallons in my case). Hudson literature says this is caused by small particles of debris that keep the diaphragm from operating properly. They should put a screen on the inlet with fine enough mesh to prevent those particles from entering the valve.

This is a very good float valve.
Review by I don't have one on Dec 27, 2014

This is a very good float valve. You do need to make sure that you have a pressure reducer otherwise it won't last very long.

Review by coy on Dec 18, 2014

Very good Vlv will buy more in the future plus it's rebuild able

Best in its Class
Review by Oldtimer on Oct 23, 2014

Used this for years for 100 - 600 gallon tanks for horse and cattle - larger tanks get two valves. Not perfect, but it is easy to repair, hard to get broken by live stock, and resistant to freezing. We typically use galvanized pipe to mount for the rigidity. Do make a point of mounting it securely to the tank. Use of through bolts with rubber washers will extend the reliability.

Prompt service. Works fine
Review by violethill on Sep 17, 2014

I needed a valve to keep my garden pool at the proper level. A cheaper one was very flimsy so I returned it and got the Hudson. I have another Hudson in another pool and I has worked perfectly for 8 years.

Great Product
Review by Ott on Aug 28, 2014

Very Good Product, I bought 8. I use them to water my racing pigeons. Took a 5 gal. buck and cut 2" holes around it for the pigeons to stick their heads in and works beautifully.

Very pleased

Great product
Review by geoff on Jun 13, 2014

The valve was purchased on the strength of the recommendation by Michael Kreisle from a Utube video. It is exactly as depicted and will be suitable to our application for a tank to supply our pressure washer. The valve arrived 10 days after the order which is great seeing we are in Australia. Great service and price.

Review by David S on Apr 23, 2014

They do fail every few years. I'm happy to find replacement unit a a reasonable price. I missed those free gloves this year. I use them for biking. Thanks Laura for your assistance when I goofed up my original order.
Best, David

keep your eye on them
Review by tg on Apr 23, 2014

I have used these valves for about 8 years, on my 3rd one. They work great but you have to keep your eye on them to catch them failing, after about a year or so. The result was a kill of all my koi in a 2500 gal pond due to the chlorinated water going in. I still use them but you have to keep your eye on them.

simple and easy
Review by flowerwoman on Apr 21, 2014

QCsupply was fast and easy to use. Valve was simple to install and works good to keep pond level constant. Much simpler and smaller than what I used before this.

Fixed a fish pond
Review by Sugar on Mar 17, 2014

I have installed this valve on a 700 gallon fish pond that has a history of leaks associated with the small waterfall. I was able to attach to a 1 inch irrigation line 10 feet from the edge of the pond. Now I can leave the waterfall and its incorporated biologic filter operating when I travel. Previously I had to pull a hose and periodically add large amounts of water at one time. This valve will allow unattended more frequent smaller additions.

Review by pool flow on Jan 31, 2014

Excellent product, excellent service

1 inch Hudson valve
Review by Zomdude on Jan 13, 2014

Have used 10 0f these and until now, all have been very satisfactory. The one previous to new purchase leaked water (did not shut off.) Not sure why. Replacement seems to be working fine. History is valve needs replacing once a year which seems to be related to hard water building calcium.

Water Valve
Review by Darrell on Dec 29, 2013

Worked exactly a expected. Because it was partially visible in my pond, I sprayed a light black coat on the blue float.

Best Valve for my purpose.
Review by Mr. "S" on Nov 20, 2013

I had several different float valves for my ponds. They weren't as compact and didn't last. This valve fits perfectly with my plumbing design. I had to replace this valve after 4 years.I thought I needed to clean it, and after taking it apart to do so, I couldn't get it to shut off. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work anymore, so I bought a new one.

Delivery, quality and operation all excellent

So I purchased two of them and I am glad I did our other fountain had the same problem so I able to fix both of our fountains on the same day. I would buy again from QC Supply. fast shipping too.

Review by Ken on Sep 20, 2013

Easy to install and works like a charm.

Awesome Valve!!!
Review by MeadowHillRanch on Sep 20, 2013

Best valve out there for a stock tank. Can mount in middle of tank to prevent livestock from messing with it. Far superior to junk ones that mount on side of tank.

Plastic pin problem solved by Hudson
Review by Russ on Jul 18, 2013

This valve is used to shut off the supply to a 1000 gallon well water reservoir tank. The original worked for about 7 years. Inexpensive and easy to replace. The plastic pin problems mentioned in earlier reviews appears to have been solved by Hudson. It is now a sheet metal type screw so it is easy to remove and replace without damage.

good product and service

Review by Rocky on Jun 9, 2013

Easy to set up and install works perfectly

works fine after initial hiccup
Review by Mike on Jun 3, 2013

Couldn't get the valve to shut off, even after allowing the control chamber to fill up with water. Had read previous posts about similar problem. Took it apart and re-tried twice before it would shut the water off. Never did decide just what the problem was. Now it seems to work fine. Using it to maintain water levels in two 1500 gallon holding tanks.

Quick and Easy
Review by Lar on May 29, 2013

Pool valve
Review by K on May 16, 2013

Have had one maintaining water level in my pool for past 10 years. The diaphragm eventually warps but valve works very well until then.
Love this valve.

Worked great right out of the box
Review by Rain Catcher on Apr 4, 2013

This is working great as a level maintenance valve in a cistern. I have city water backing up the rain water that I collect from the roof and it keeps the level from getting to low and burning out the irrigation pump.

Great product
Review by RayV on Mar 23, 2013

I use the 1" vavle to maintain the level in my in ground pool. It works great. I would recommend this to a friend.

Review by Terry on Feb 7, 2013

does the job..
Review by Plumb crazy on Jan 8, 2013

used this valve and it works great, no regrets!

Excellent "bit of kit"
Review by John A on Nov 15, 2012

Excellent product, very well made. Highly recommended.

Good Product
Review by Chuck on Oct 8, 2012

Good product for the automatic pool fill. Only problem is the small rubber washer at the top of the shut off which deteriorates and it is not available in the parts kit so you end up each time having to buy a whole new valve. QC's prices though are substantially below all the competition.

Best answer to a koy pond with plants and fish
Review by sam on Sep 19, 2012

I ordered this valve to replace one I had been using for several years. The old one had limed up over years of uneventful use. While waiting for the new one, I simply took the old one apart and cleaned it with "lime-away". Wow, easy to take apart, clean and replace. Now I have a standby for next time.

If you have a pond with plants, fish and other items, this is the answer. I tried other types with which did not meet my requirements.

Pin problem fixed!
Review by Mike H on Aug 22, 2012

The old plastic pin was hard to remove, and I was happy to see the new valve has a regular metal screw in place of the plastic wedge.

My only complaint with the valve is it can emit an annoying hum or buzz when it is at the full state. But this was caused by a mounting that was not rigid enough with about 7 inches of free lead in plastic pipe providing a nice spring for resonance. Fixed by adding a rubber damper.

Quality product, fast delivery
Review by Bill on Aug 12, 2012

I appreciate your fast handling and shipping of this quality product. the float valve is installed and works as expected. Keep up the good work. Price was less than other suppliers.

Great product
Review by AL on Jul 5, 2012

This unit works so much better than the old horse trough unit that I believe I will save enough money in water loss within a month to pay for it.

great value for a great valve
Review by greenie on Jun 2, 2012

didn't work out of the box but took it apart and put back together and it has been working great.

Review by Cowboy on May 4, 2012

20 year old valve gave out. Been thru a lot. Replaced it and voila, just like new.

Easily solved "sticky" diaphragm
Review by William on Mar 3, 2012

Out of the box - didn't work. However this is not rocket science just good engineering. Disassembled and freed up the diaphragm, works like a champ. Excellent product guys, but I am going to order repair kit as it appears a few things could go wrong. Thanks.

Great Product!
Review by Steve on Feb 8, 2012

Review by Cindy on Sep 22, 2011

Excellent product for maintaining pond level.

Great valve
Review by The car Keeper on May 15, 2011

Had one like this for 10 years in a landscape pond. It finally quit working properly. Couldn't find a new one locally at all (Denver area). Found this through Google immediately and ordered it. I had it in 3 days! Thanks QC Supply!

Ought to throw in an extra pin
Review by Orchard Sprayer on May 4, 2011

My plastic pin (p/n P10) broke too. I improvised with a plastic zip tie but it isn't as good. And I don't see that P10 pin part for sale here. I disassembled the valve thinking it needed cleaning when it didn't (my problem was upstream of the valve).

Aside from that one pin issue I have had two of these operating flawlessly for 5 years continuously. These are the closest things to a "solid state" no-maintenance float valve I have ever found. For less than $25 a pop get two for goodness sakes.

Good Valve, poor pin design.
Review by Jolly Farmer on Apr 3, 2011

When I went to remove the plastic pin that holds the float valve in place it broke in two. The pin is clearly not well designed or strong enough.
